2 Computers 1 Me

I have been using 2 computers at work for quite some time now. My set up consists of 1 PC with 2 monitors and a laptop machine. Having a second machine have given me following benefits:

• On my main machine, I run core development tools. I run other apps like Outlook and casual browsing material on the laptop.


• I have access to different version of browsers and apps at easy reach.


• When one machine grinds to a halt - for whatever reason - I have another machine to do what I need to do.


• I can take the laptop to a meeting if required with all the stuff that I need.

I use Synerge so I can use one keyboard and mouse to control both machines. While Synerge provides elementary level of clipboard sync, it sometimes just dies and this had been a great annoyance - until today. I use a clipboard manager called Ditto and today, I suddenly wondered if Ditto will sync the clipboard for me and hurah, it has sync feature which was quite easy to setup.

I enjoy this 3 screen, 2 machine setup a lot and would recommend it if you can afford it. After all, my laptop was a leftover at the office with Pentium M and 1Gb of mem only. But for what I use it for it is more than enough.
